My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Story is narrated by a small girl, in small town, in early 19 th century. It is about the how a growing child perceives and understands the world . Unprejudiced way of looking at things exposes the bigotry in the world, errant behavior of grown-ups and racialism.
Very simple and light read. It goes in a slow paced manners and characters are one dimensional.
There is nothing that we dont know of and there is no strong message that authour puts accross. But does leave you with a sense of disgrace for who our society is and how it treats deprived people.
A must read for teenagers.
